By Horace Palacio: Hurricane Beryl has rapidly intensified into a major Category 4 hurricane, according to the latest update from hurricane hunters. With maximum sustained winds now reaching 130 mph, Beryl has officially become the strongest June hurricane ever recorded in the Atlantic Basin.

Life-threatening winds and storm surge are expected in the region beginning early Monday.

While the initial impact will be felt in the eastern Caribbean, there is growing concern that Beryl could track towards the western Caribbean Sea later in the week, potentially threatening Jamaica, the Cayman Islands, Belize, and Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula.

Belizeans are urged to prepare for potential impacts and monitor the storm’s progress closely. Stay tuned to Breaking Belize News for further updates as we closely monitor this developing situation.
