By Aaron Humes: Four men are accused of an aggravated burglary at the home of Central Bank consultant Alan Slusher, 78, Tuesday evening in Burrell Boom, Belize District.
According to reports from the police, Slusher had just returned home from work at around 6:30 p.m. When he was accosted, he had just parked his grey Toyota Hilux, which has the license plate number BZ-C-38871, in front of his residence in Burrell Boom.
The assailants, three of whom were brandishing weapons, threatened Slusher at gunpoint, taking his nine-millimetre pistol and ransacking his home. Additionally, they stole his vehicle keys and restrained him using wire and duct tape before fleeing in his Toyota Hilux. It does not appear that he was otherwise physically harmed.
We understand it took Slusher several hours to free himself, but when he had done so he alerted the authorities, sometime around 9:30 p.m.
Alan Slusher is a distinguished civil servant who previously held the positions of Financial Secretary and Governor of the Central Bank among others.
