By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: This morning, Category 1 Hurricane Beryl made landfall in Texas causing major power outages.
Beryl is still producing heavy rain, damaging hurricane-force winds and life-threatening storm surge to the Texas coast.
Powerful Beryl battered the Caribbean as a Category 5 storm claiming 11 lives and destruction.
Hurricane Beryl then traveled across Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula and the Gulf of Mexico. Beryl is expected to weaken as it travels overland, becoming a tropical storm on Monday.
In Texas, downed trees and power lines were reported this morning leaving over 2 million people without electricity.
