By Aaron Humes: A shooting incident over the weekend has left a security guard severely injured in Tower Hill Village, Orange Walk District. Tyron Moralez, a 35-year-old security guard, was on duty when the incident occurred on Saturday night.
According to reports, Moralez was walking along a street leading to his job site when he got into a verbal exchange with three individuals in a pickup truck, whom he recognized. The exchange quickly escalated, culminating in Moralez being shot in the abdomen. The bullet is still lodged in his stomach, and he is expected to undergo at least one surgery.
ACP Hilberto Romero, Regional Commander of Eastern Division, confirmed that upon police arrival at the scene, Moralez was found with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. The police are currently seeking three suspects in connection with the shooting.
Eric Martinez, the brother of the shooting victim, told reporters that Moralez recognized the individuals involved in the shooting. Martinez added that there was no prior conflict or “beef” between Moralez and the suspects, indicating that the incident may have escalated quickly.
The family of Tyron Moralez expressed concern about his recovery, emphasizing the need for major surgery due to the location of the bullet. Despite the challenging road ahead, they are hopeful for Moralez’s full recovery.
