By Aaron Humes: 30-year-old Nelson Ernesto Vanegas Calderon, a construction worker of Curl Thompson Street, Belize City, is in debt to the court in the sum of $705 after he pleaded guilty to damage to property to a woman’s house in the Jane Usher Boulevard area.

Calderon was accused of, on Sunday, September 22 at Jane Usher Boulevard without lawful excuse, causing damages to a $700 burglar bar door and screen and a $300 window with screen, total value of $1,000.

Calderon pleaded guilty and said that on that night he had an argument with his mom and stepfather, and because his mom is a church woman and he was drunk, he claimed she never knew it was him and she called the police on him, because he was trying to get inside through the window. The house turned out to be not his mother’s house but a neighbour’s.

Calderon was fined $700 plus cost of court to be paid by December 31, in default, 3 months imprisonment.
