By Horace Palacio: Residents across Belize are waking up to cloudy skies and the prospect of scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms today. The National Meteorological Service of Belize has issued a forecast indicating that relatively moist and unstable conditions will persist throughout the day and into the night.
While temperatures along the coast will reach a high of 90°F (32°C), those inland can expect slightly warmer conditions with a high of 94°F (34°C). The hills will experience milder temperatures, peaking at 80°F (27°C). Marine conditions will remain relatively calm with easterly winds blowing at 5-10 knots and slight sea states.
The current tropical weather outlook indicates that neither Hurricane Isaac, situated northwest of the Azores, nor Tropical Storm Joyce, located east-northeast of the Northern Leeward Islands, pose a threat to Belize. However, an area of low pressure in the western Caribbean Sea is being closely monitored for potential development.
The forecast for Monday and Monday night predicts a continuation of the current weather pattern with a few showers and isolated thunderstorms affecting the country. Residents are advised to stay updated on the latest weather information and take necessary precautions when venturing outdoors.
Overall, while the weather may be less than ideal for outdoor activities, Belizeans and visitors alike can still enjoy the country’s natural beauty and vibrant culture, taking advantage of indoor attractions and embracing the cozy atmosphere brought on by the rainy weather.
