By BBN Staff: The Jamaican Prime Minister’s wife, Juliet Holness, left Jamaica today to partake in the Regional Partnership for Children with Disabilities Conference, to be held in Belize from October 13-14.

The invitation to the conference was extended to Holness by the wife of Prime Minister Dean Barrow’s wife: Special Envoy for women and children, Kim Simplis Barrow.

The theme for the conference is  ‘Breaking Barriers for an Inclusive Society and Empowerment for Children with Disabilities’.

It will emphasize on issues affecting children with disabilities and seek the commitment of participating countries and organizations to work towards making this a cross-cutting issue among governments, civil society, and the private sector.

The event is also bringing together regional partners to exchange best practices and experiences and allow for a re-commitment to the Convention on the Rights of Persons Living with Disabilities.

According to the Jamaican Information System, this trip is sponsored by the Belizean Government.
